The book also highlights the richness of the Coptic liturgical heritage and its continuity with the wider Orthodox tradition throughout the centuries. Its chapters include the Sacrament of Baptism, Engagement, the Rite of Holy Matrimony, Second Marriage for Widows and Widowers, the Anointing of the Sick, Funeral Services, House Blessings, the Consecration of Sacred Vessels, the Prayer of Renunciation, the Reception of a Newly Ordained Priest, and the prayers of the Child’s Bath (Al-Ḥamīm) and Abu Tarbo.
